Enjoy a rare chance to explore the working world of artists and designer-makers in their studios and workshops at 36 Lime Street in the heart of the Ouseburn. Explore five floors of the original Ouseburn Warehouse Workshops and Studios. Visit over 30 professional designers, artists, musicians and makers who will be showing and selling work of exceptional quality in our beautiful listed building and at the Ouseburn Pottery. Discover a range of items, including unique gifts for Christmas, to suit everyone’s taste and budget. Meet the makers and commission artworks or bespoke designs in wood, metal, clay, print, paint, jewellery, glass, textiles and much more.
Enjoy a piano performance by Steve Luck on Level 2 and, on the same floor, see a lithograph being printed at Hole Editions print studio. Play with light and glass with Laura Johnston on Level 5 over the weekend. On Saturday at 11.00 see how to upcycle a chair using proggy with Ali Rhind on Level 1 and make a brooch with Ali on Sun 24 at 11.00 (book via facebook.com/alirhindtextiles). Meanwhile, down the slipway, you might catch a pot-throwing demonstration on the potter’s wheel at Ouseburn Pottery.
Explore papercutting and folding with Bethan Maddocks in studio 1E, where on Sunday she will also be joined by street writer Luke Winter, typewriting stories for visitors, and a performance by She Choir Newcastle.
Find out about forthcoming workshops and events with resident artists and take part in demonstrations to whet your creative appetite or relax with a hot drink and delicious food at our pop-up café whilst enjoying this year’s gallery exhibition. And before you leave, make sure you invest in a limited edition letterpress raffle ticket, featuring a print of members’ work hand-printed by Hole Editions, with generously-donated prizes and proceeds helping to maintain our amazing building.
