Following on from last years painting of 'The Free Trade', Jim reimagined his cityscape painting, viewing the buildings and bridges from inside the iconic pub. Jim is keen to explore this indoors-meets-outdoors theme, bringing together two separate worlds into a single painting. Intrigued by the juxtaposition of the external and the internal spaces and how the window frames the scene, he hopes to give the viewer a unique feeling of place.

For this years Ouseburn Open Studios, Jim will be working on a series of paintings that capture some other iconic North East interiors, and their spectacular exterior views. He'll be returning to The Free Trade, this time during an evening setting, and also painting the interiors of The Sage, The Baltic and The Cumberland Arms.
